Jot me a note through the contact page on when you would like to schedule, with who you'd like to have photographed and if there's a lovely spot you have in mind as the location (we can offer suggestions if that's helpful). Sessions are scheduled when the light outside is best - either early morning or late afternoon.

Your session is reserved when your letter of agreement/session fee arrives (and we'll send the letter of agreement when you write). On the session day, we'll photograph for up to an hour.

About 2 weeks after the session, we will get in touch with you to give you login information to view your proofs online. At any time, we can answer any questions you may have, offer suggestions on which images might look nice paired together, show you some of our products & take your order. This can take place in your home, over the phone or another pre-determined location. Images are archived for one year.

Prints are delivered or shipped within 2-3 weeks of ordering. Handbags, jewelry, bound books & albums take longer due to the nature of their production. Holiday prints may take longer, please discuss this with us prior to the holiday season.

Some parents forget about having professional pictures done during these precious years.

what should i wear?

A variety of things work...but the standard rules for everyone are: wear something you feel great in, clothing that you can sit comfortably in & avoid patterns where possible. I'm not a particularly big fan of white clothing since it limits where I can shoot (we'll need to be in open shade most of the time) & baseball caps (they create a shadow on your face) but other than that, it's fair game! Simplicity is always best...and while small groups should look coordinated, don't be too matchy-matchy or else it has that dated family portrait look. I love jeans and sweaters/scarves/mittens that aren't too bulky (in cold weather). Run your ideas by us, we're always happy to listen to the clothing plan...and with children, definitely pick clothes they can play in. Bright colors, super chunky sweaters, knit hats, and bare feet (or cute rain boots) for children are fun. And while pattern can be difficult when there's more than one person in a photo, if you'll be photographed alone, it's great to have a French striped top or patterned skirt.

how do we need to prepare our home before a photo shoot at our house?

You'd be suprised how little room we need for a shoot at your house. Where we shoot within the house typically depends on the model...baby-in their new room, family-den or family room...either way, just have anything out of view that you do not want to be photographed. We will also make suggestions when we get there. In some instances, an extra light source will be needed, in which, we will need to have access to extra electrical outlets.

what if we schedule a shoot outside and it rains?

My heart sinks when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate...it happens less often than you'd imagine but since camera gear doesn't like to get wet, we absolutely have to reschedule for sprinkles. We make that judgement call on the day of the session (unless it's very obvious the day before)...and if it's in the afternoon, I prefer to pow-wow 2.5 hours beforehand since weather in our lovely state changes frequently and it's best to give spring/fall showers a bit of time and see if they'll clear.

what should we bring?

If it's been a week with a bit of wetness, it's smart to bring along a dark, washable blanket to sit on. For children, have something handy that they can eat/drink. Otherwise, just bring your happy selves! It's important that day to fight the anxiety that may come about making things 'perfect'...this experience of being photographed will be much more low-key than you're probably used to. And life itself is so beautifully imperfect - don't worry a bit if your child loses a tooth or gets a bump/scrape before. We can talk about the specifics but it shouldn't be an issue with the final outcome. Make this a fun experience, so you can remember this incredible time in your lives, and most of all give yourself plenty of time to prepare clothing/hair.

Bring as much or as little as you like - if there's a teddy bear that your little one drags around, it would be nice to include briefly towards the very end.

what are limited edition sessions?

Occasionally, I offer limited edition sessions at select locations - they are abbreviated mini sessions (up to 20 minutes long and focused around a specific idea). They're announced on the blog and are the perfect way to get occasional photographs more often than your once or twice a year shoots.

how long do you archive images?

Images are archived for up to a year (the exception to this is wedding images which are kept for 18 months).

how long do print orders take?
